Assoc. Prof. Dr. Metin SÜRME - Director of the Vocational College

 

  • To contribute to the formulation of the university’s mission, vision, and quality policy, and to ensure their adoption by college staff;
  • To set the college’s goals, share them with all college staff, and motivate all staff to achieve them;
  • To represent the university at meetings related to their fields when the University Rector is not present,
  • To chair the College Councils, ensure the decisions of the relevant councils are implemented, and facilitate regular coordination among units,
  • To submit a report to the Rector on the general status and operations of the College at the end of each academic year and upon request,
  • To notify the Rector’s Office of the College’s budgetary and staffing needs, along with the rationale, and to submit a proposal regarding the College’s budget to the Rector’s Office after obtaining the opinion of the College Administrative Board,
  • To exercise general oversight and supervision over the College’s departments and all levels of staff,
  • To coordinate to ensure that educational and instructional activities are carried out in an orderly manner,
  • To monitor compliance with laws and regulations in the initiation and completion of activities,
  • To provide the necessary conditions for scientific research and publication activities,
  • To ensure, monitor, and oversee the effective and efficient use and protection of the unit’s assets and allocated services in accordance with the principles of accuracy, integrity, and transparency,
  • Is primarily responsible to the rector for the rational use and development of the college’s teaching capacity; for taking necessary security measures when required; for providing students with the necessary social services; for the orderly conduct of education, teaching, scientific research, and publication activities; and for the supervision, audit, monitoring, control, and evaluation of all activities,
  • Within the framework of the university’s strategic plan, to present the department’s needs regarding human resources, technology, physical infrastructure, equipment, etc., to the Dean’s Office after obtaining the opinion of the Department Council; to provide information to the Rector’s Office to ensure the procurement of departmental needs (including all types of equipment and consumables),
  • To perform the duties of the authorizing officer,
  •  To contribute to the college’s development by organizing events such as courses, seminars, and conferences for the college’s academic, administrative, and contract staff,
  • To ensure the organizational structure of the unit within the framework of Quality Management Systems,
  • To coordinate the holding of Quality Representative and Quality Circle meetings,
  • Coordinate the provision of training on Quality Management Systems and unit-specific needs for process owners and staff,
  • Review inputs for the Management Review meeting; coordinate the conduct of the meeting, the documentation of decisions made, and their distribution to units,
  • Ensure the establishment of quality objectives and the implementation of objective-based performance measurements,
  • Conduct the necessary work related to measuring process performance,
  • Implement and enforce structural arrangements in accordance with the operational principles of Environmental Management Systems,
  • Ensure departmental structuring in accordance with the procedures and principles of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System and ensure staff compliance,
  • Ensure and coordinate departmental organization regarding the Customer Satisfaction Management System,
  • Ensure and coordinate departmental organization regarding the Information Security Management System,
  • Ensure that accreditation assessment activities for departments are conducted on a regular basis,

  • Management, control, and oversight of community college quality and accreditation processes
  • Membership on the University Quality Commission,
  • Management, control, and oversight of operations and relations between the community college and university units
  • Ensuring coordination among departments
  • Control and oversight of semester course schedules, course offerings, and course schedule entries
  • Control and oversight of the exam schedule preparation processes
  • Carrying out the necessary procedures and monitoring the processes to address improvement initiatives and deficiencies reported by department chairs and academic staff regarding course delivery, ensuring appropriate conditions in classrooms, etc.
  • Receiving requests from academic staff regarding academic, personal, educational, and professional development matters, and managing the procedures and processes related to these requests
  • Carrying out other duties assigned by the Dean’s Office in addition to those listed above

  • Management, control, and oversight of press, publishing, public relations, and external relations activities
  • Management, control, and oversight of procedures carried out within the framework of the Bologna Process
  • Monitoring the implementation of decisions made by departmental councils and tracking related processes
  • Evaluation of leave requests submitted to the directorate by academic staff
  • Implementation, control, and oversight of improvement initiatives based on course evaluation survey results reported by departments
  • Receiving requests from students regarding academic, personal, educational, and professional development matters, and managing the related procedures and processes
  • Carrying out other duties assigned by the director’s office in addition to those listed above
